In retrospective

There is a reason for so much detailing of my Nainital trip. I was going through a lot of internal upheavals with the many moral compromises that I was making as a person, to an organization whose ultimate vision was facilitating a Truth based society - for which I was the face of it. The trip gave me time to retrospect on these which I am sharing here.
Payir as an organization, though run and largely managed by people from the community, has failed to involve the community at large in its initiatives, it failed to create enough and alternate capacities/resources for each program, a few of its program was not based on actual need/demand and became a provider, the community's perception about Payir over the last year was that it was associated with Power circles, becoming a power center of its own and a section of the community started perceiving us as a separate entity and not part of the civil (village) society.
My own compromises to Truth manifested by way of telling lies, where it was certainly unwarranted, being and showing anger, judging people and reacting based on that. And I was also getting tied down to family/relatives problems. People started to perceive me as someone intelligent but not as a leader.

i came across your blog only today.
first of all,i want to say that you are doing very noble work - the world would be a better place if there are more people like you.
with ref. to ur thoughts, i think life is a learning process. we all make mistakes but we can learn a lot from them.i am sure as time goes on, you will do better and better.
also i think it wd be helpful for you if you could meet and talk to other organizations/people who are involved in similar work - you could get valuable guidance from them.the internet can help you to locate such people.2 such places that i know of are - DHAN foundation and mr. elango of kuthambakkam village.you can get their contact details from the internet.

Senthil,
Came to know about your work and life from your friend Ramanathan. Its very inspiring . Read this recent post of yours. If its any consolation, even our idol Gandhi was in similar crossroads on his path to satyagraha. The testing part about any social service is gaining the trust of the people for whose benefit one set out for. I pray for God to bestow you with strength. But then, you always have us - your blog readers. the least we can do right now is read your posts and cheer you up and you can vent/pour your feelings on us. On your note about compromising truth etc, I get reminded of what valluvar said "poimaiyum vaimai idatha" - if the longterm benefit is truth/good, then some small hacks can be considered okay atleast to my average intellect. You have set out for a greater cause. Thats whats important and what matters. I hope to do more to help your cause soon.
